What did CBP announce?
CBP announced it canceled its free NCSD webinars scheduled for April 7 and April 9, 2026, on steel bars and rods classification and on plastic plates, sheets, film, foil and strip. CBP cited a partial DHS funding lapse as the reason. CBP said both webinars would be rescheduled after the funding lapse ended.
What is Allied's position?
This notice only concerned CBP's educational webinars and did not change any entry filing requirements. Clients did not need to take any action. We did not need to adjust any entries because of this cancellation.

What does the CBP message say?
Due to the partial Department of Homeland Security (DHS) lapse in funding, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has canceled its free monthly National Commodity Specialist Division (NCSD) commodity webinars that were originally scheduled for April 7 and April 9. The sessions focused on "The Classification of Steel Bars and Rods in Chapter 72" and "Plates, Sheets, Film, Foil & Strip, of Plastics." Both webinars, "The Classification of Steel Bars and Rods in Chapter 72" and "Plates, Sheets, Film, Foil & Strip, of Plastics," will be rescheduled after the end of the lapse in funding.
