Entry Type 11
Entry type 11 is CBP's code for an informal entry of free or dutiable goods, generally for shipments of $2,500 or less.
What does Entry Type 11 mean?
In the CBP entry type codes, a first digit of 1 means informal. Type 11 is the informal entry for free and dutiable goods, and type 12 is for quota goods other than textiles.
Informal entry is available for shipments of $2,500 or less and for some other goods that 19 CFR 143.21 lists. CBP can require a formal entry for any merchandise (19 CFR 143.22).
An informal entry pays a specific merchandise processing fee, not the 0.3464 percent fee of a formal entry. For an automated entry not prepared by CBP, the fee is $2.69 in fiscal year 2026 and $2.77 from October 1, 2026.
Since the de minimis suspension, low-value shipments that used entry type 86 need an informal entry, such as type 11, or a formal entry. CBP no longer accepts type 86 entries (90 FR 42418).
What does it mean for your shipment?
We file type 11 entries for e-commerce shippers with volume. The shipment data must describe each item well enough to classify it to 10 digits.
