CBP Made Certain Drawback Bond Errors Fatal, Removing Accelerated Payment

CBP title: Updates to Drawback Bond Validations and Error Codes

This message is from June 17, 2026. Later CSMS messages may have changed it. See the latest trade news

What did CBP announce?

CBP announced that on June 16, 2026 it deployed updates to drawback bond validations in ACE, changing several error codes from informational to fatal. A fatal error removes Accelerated Payment from a drawback claim. The message listed specific codes affected, including invalid or inactive surety and bond numbers, bond insufficiency, and bonds outside their effective period.

What is Allied's position?

We file duty drawback claims for clients and depend on accurate, active bond information to avoid these fatal errors. At the time, this change meant that a bond problem on a claim would automatically remove Accelerated Payment rather than just flag it. Clients do not need to take action on this notice itself, but later CSMS messages may have adjusted these validations, so clients should ask us about the current status of any pending drawback claim.
