New cargo release error 336 requires invoice or merchandise description on type 13 entries
CBP posted an updated Cargo Release Condition Codes document to cbp.gov. It adds error code 336, "INVOICE/MERCH DESC REQUIRED FOR ET13," a validation rule for the Commercial Invoice Description in the SE40 record. CBP will deploy the rule to the ACE Cargo Release Production environment on October 15, 2026.

From October 15, 2026, ACE will reject a type 13 mail entry that lacks a commercial invoice description in the SE40 record. We need a clear invoice or merchandise description for every mail shipment we enter as type 13. Clients and postal partners should make sure each shipment comes with an invoice that describes the goods.
CBP adds error codes rejecting restricted Canadian products from September 29
CBP added new ACE error codes to carry out Proclamations 11061, 11062 and 11063. They apply to designated Canadian-origin goods entered or withdrawn from a warehouse for consumption on or after 12:01 a.m. ET on September 29, 2026. The goods fall under HTSUS headings 0404, 1702, 1703, 2202 through 2208 and 8711, including alcohol in direct-to-consumption containers. Non-compliant cargo release filings get error 335, and e214 FTZ admissions get error 239, both reading "HTS not allowed for country of origin."

We apply this change to the cargo release filings we make from September 29, 2026. ACE will reject a filing for designated Canadian-origin goods under the listed headings with error 335. Clients who import Canadian goods under these headings should contact us before shipping so we can review the classification and origin. We do not operate foreign trade zones, so FTZ admission error 239 concerns zone operators and their filers.
CBP adds and removes error codes for Entry Type 13 cargo release in ACE
CBP posted updated Cargo Release Condition Codes documentation covering Entry Type 13. The update adds error code 334 and removes error code 325. CBP deployed the change to the ACE production environment on September 22, 2026.

This is a technical update to the error codes ACE uses when validating Entry Type 13 (mail entry) cargo release transmissions. We apply the updated codes to the entry type 13 filings we transmit through ABI. Clients do not need to take any action.
CBP added new error code for inactive importer of record in cargo release
CBP posted an updated Cargo Release Condition Codes document to cbp.gov. The update added error code 333, which flags an importer of record as inactive for entry purposes. CBP deployed this status check to the ACE Certification environment on June 30, 2026 and to Production on July 14, 2026.

This system update lets CBP flag entries when the importer of record's account is inactive for entry purposes. We watch for error code 333 on the entries we file and will contact the client if their importer number shows this status. Clients do not need to take any action now unless we notify them that their importer of record account needs attention.
